\nShe doesn\u2019t cook \u2013 she plays.
\nThis melody of hers is sweeping and powerful,
\nHer hands tell a story,
\nA story of the love of the land,
\nA story of history and tradition,
\nA story of a woman who is all one big journey.<\/p>\n
I will never forget my first meeting with Maria.
\nI entered her kitchen and met thousands of pots,
\nEach contained a full world,
\nEach one smelled different and the colors mesmerized me,
\nAnd in this intoxicating whirlwind I had to choose,
\nwhat would we like to eat
\nWhat would we like to taste?
\nAnd the main thing that came to my mind is \u2013 how will I leave this fascinating kitchen.<\/p>\n
We fell in love with one look,
\nMyself and maria
\nTwo women who come from different worlds,
\nAt completely different ages.
\nTwo powerful women who speak with their eyes.
\nWe have no common language except hearts that have connected
\nAnd endless love for the kitchen and food.
\nAnd as I always say \u2013 if there\u2019s a place where everything is possible, it\u2019s in the kitchen.
\nThe kitchen accepts everyone and allows everyone to just be.<\/p>\n
I have known Maria for about 6 years.
\nThe first times we met were fascinating and inspiring,
\nThen longing spoke from our throats,
\nMainly the desire to see that the other is well, and wearing her infinite smile.<\/p>\n
On the last visit I made to see her, I realized that in a few years, this kitchen of Maria\u2019s will have a different face.
\nAnd I decided that I owed it to myself and to her,
\nI just have to immortalize the divine bite of her grape leaves.<\/p>\n
These grape leaves are very different from all the types of grape leaves you\u2019ve known until now.
\nThey\u2019re sour and full of intense flavor,
\nThey\u2019re soft and embracing,
\nThey comfort and caress,
\nAnd I promise you they\u2019re the best bite you\u2019ll ever meet.<\/p>\n
I set up a meeting with her at 10:30. She had just returned from the farm after collecting the ingredients for today\u2019s cooking.
\nThey grow everything themselves, from the vegetables to producing olive oil and rose honey.
\nWe drank coffee, Grandma Maria\u2019s Greek coffee,
\nIt always breaks her heart when I can\u2019t taste her wonderful cookies, because they contain gluten, so she immediately serves me a spoonful of wonderful fruit jam that she made alongside my coffee.
\nWe talked with our eyes,
\nThen she motioned me into the kitchen,
\nThe butterflies in my stomach started flying in every direction,
\nI went into the kitchen and promised myself that I had to be focused as well as captivated by a spell at the same time.<\/p>\n
The vegetables began to dance and move from the grater to the bowl,
\nLots of olive oil poured with great love,
\nAll the herbs turned into one paste next to the rice
\nAnd the big moment has arrived \u2013 assembling the pot,
\nFilling the grape leaves that had been picked this morning from the vineyard, most of them were young, and Maria insisted that they should not be washed,
\nAll the flavor lies in them just as they came from the vine.<\/p>\n
I knew she wasn\u2019t going to roll them,
\nEvery time I ate them I noticed that she had a method of folding and not rolling.
\nAlready from a top view of the pot you can see the grape leaves lying folded side by side and on top of each other with
\ninfinite love.
\nAnd so it was,
\nHer soft hands began to fold the grape leaves and fill them with the intriguing rice mixture we had prepared.

\nAdding the liquids and putting the pot on a small, sweet fire.
\nWe put the pot on the stove and hugged each other with our eyes,
\nFrom the moment Covid has arrived I realized that in order to be by her side I had to take care of her.
\nWe stood with great excitement in the kitchen and waited for the moment when the pot would be ready.
\nNext to the pot of grape leaves, which is called \u201cYamista\u201d in Greek, a pot of wonderful grape jam was bubbling.

\nIt\u2019s jam that\u2019s all golden pearls full of sweet juice of happiness and summer,

\nI remember the look on Noi\u2019s face sitting at the entrance to the kitchen, his blue eyes were shining with excitement and he
