{"id":31218,"date":"2024-05-03T11:04:05","date_gmt":"2024-05-03T08:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/%d7%a4%d7%90%d7%99-%d7%a9%d7%95%d7%a7%d7%95%d7%9c%d7%93-%d7%9c%d7%a4%d7%a1%d7%97\/"},"modified":"2024-07-23T19:07:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T16:07:52","slug":"chocolate-pie-for-passover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/en\/chocolate-pie-for-passover\/","title":{"rendered":"Chocolate pie for Passover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">My chocolate pie is one of the oldest recipes I make.<br \/>\nIt has always been based on almond flour,<br \/>\nas it is a recipe meant for Passover,<br \/>\nand I made it every holiday long before I discovered my celiac disease.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">This chocolate pie is one of the bites my family looks forward to every Passover.<br \/>\nBut this year, I made it, especially for my two younger brothers, Yuvel and Daniel.<br \/>\nI received my brothers as a gift when I was 10.<br \/>\nIt was one of the most special gifts I have ever received in my life.<br \/>\nOur childhood was wonderful and embracing,<br \/>\nin a home that was always full of warmth, love, and comforting good food.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Last October, they both went to reserve duty,<br \/>\nand the turmoil at home was significant.<br \/>\nWe were all worried about their safety, and having thoughts about their security and the moments we pictured they would come home were many.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">I found myself turning to the sun and the moon every day,<br \/>\nsending them energies of love, healing, and care.<br \/>\nI transferred my thoughts to them and mainly reduced the worries in my heart.<br \/>\nI knew they and I were looking at the same sun and the same moon while they were deep in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Beyond thinking about the moment they would return safely,<br \/>\nthe only way to calm my heart and the worries that raged in it was to imagine.<br \/>\nWhen they were in the heart of Gaza, I imagined everything I would prepare for them the moment they returned.<br \/>\nAmong all the foods was also my festive chocolate pie for Passover.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\nThis year, the Passover table will be different in every home in Israel and around the world.<br \/>\nThe word &#8220;freedom&#8221; takes on a different meaning after the difficult events of October 7th.<br \/>\nEvery family looks at its family unit with deeper gratitude than usual.<br \/>\nThe gathering around the table will be very different, full of thoughts and strength.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">This year, I dedicate my chocolate pie to my sweet brothers,<br \/>\nto my family,<br \/>\nto the scarred hearts of all of us and all of Israel.<br \/>\nAlthough chocolate does not heal such deep pain,<br \/>\nit gives great hope.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The process of making chocolate involves many stages until it becomes delicious and powerful chocolate,<br \/>\njust as our hearts&#8217; healing journey is slow,<br \/>\nfamily-oriented,<br \/>\nfull of compassion,<br \/>\nand food that reminds us of home and better days.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">I will end with a prayer and hope that everyone returns soon.<br \/>\nHappy and good days to all of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_30747\" style=\"width: 1546px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30747\" class=\"wp-image-30747 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-03-at-10.50.27.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"2048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-03-at-10.50.27.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-03-at-10.50.27-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-03-at-10.50.27-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-03-at-10.50.27-1152x1536.jpeg 1152w, https:\/\/www.essyroz.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-05-03-at-10.50.27-1140x1520.jpeg 1140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-30747\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chocolate pie for Passover | image: Essy Roz<\/p><\/div>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: left;\">Chocolate pie for Passover<\/h1>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My chocolate pie is one of the oldest recipes I make.
