Chocolate muffins kids really love!
This is one of my favorite recipes.
It’s the easy,
Quick,
and a simple solution for a bite any child would be happy to eat.
It’s nourishing and filling,
perfect for that 4:00 p.m. snack for the kids and for us 🙂
It uses just a few ingredients,
prepares quickly,
and requires nothing but one mixing bowl.
The kids love when a few colorful sprinkles peek out on top of the muffins,
and sometimes I surprise them by adding some.
Most of the time I serve them without any sprinkles
and they still disappear completely.
The kids stay calm after eating,
and we all enjoy a relaxed, pleasant afternoon together.
Wishing us all happy and cozy afternoons 🙂

Chocolate Muffins Kids Love
Ingredients
Makes 12 muffins:
- 100 g dark chocolate
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ½ cup preferred milk
- ⅓ cup maple syrup
- A tiny pinch of salt
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup oat flour (for alternatives, see “A Little Extra From Me”)
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- 1 packet baking powder (10 g)
- 50 g chocolate chip pieces
For the chocolate cream:
- 100 g chocolate of any kind
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 tablespoons preferred milk (I used almond)
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 175 °C (345 °F), preferably on convection mode, but not required.
Place the chocolate, olive oil, and milk in a bowl and melt in the microwave in 30-second pulses until smooth and glossy.
Add the eggs, maple syrup, and salt to the chocolate mixture and stir.
Add the oat flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, and mix into a smooth batter.
Add the chocolate chips and give the batter one last mix until chocolate-dotted and ready.
Spoon the batter evenly into a lined muffin tin and bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the muffins cool.
To make the chocolate cream:
Place the chocolate, olive oil, and milk in a bowl and melt in 30-second pulses in the microwave until smooth. Spread the cream over each muffin. If you’d like to add some colorful sprinkles – now’s the time. Serve these chocolate muffins kids love with love.
A little extra from me:
- You can serve the muffins at room temperature or chilled from the fridge.
I found it helpful to chill them before serving to keep the kids from making a mess while eating. - You can store the chocolate muffins kids love in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days, or in the freezer for up to a month (without the chocolate cream).
- You can also make them without the chocolate cream – they’re delicious either way.
- You can substitute the oat flour with 1½ cups of almond flour.
