Tuna Bread in a Toaster
Ingredients
Please note: all my recipes are measured using universal cups (a 250 ml measuring cup). I highly recommend using them so you get the most accurate and perfect recipe possible.
Makes 1 serving:
- 1 can tuna, drained
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons raw tahini (for substitutions, see “A Little More from Me”)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup grated vegetable, I used carrot (for substitutions, see “A Little More from Me”)
- A handful of fresh herbs / ¼ teaspoon dried herbs, I used a mix of finely chopped cilantro and basil
Please note: this recipe is designed for a large toaster oven. If you are using a small toaster oven, divide the mixture into two batches.
Preparation
Preheat your toaster to the highest temperature.
Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix into a sticky batter.
Grease a sheet of baking paper with olive oil, place the batter on it, and shape it into a rectangle. Place another sheet of baking paper on top of the batter and transfer it to the toaster oven for a short bake. The baking time should not be very long, just a few minutes, and it depends greatly on the heat intensity of your toaster. Check on your tuna bread after a few minutes of baking until it reaches your desired level of doneness 🙂
Remove it from the toaster using the baking paper, transfer it to a cutting board, slice it, and enjoy it alongside fresh vegetables and a delicious dip 🙂
A Little More from Me:
- You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- The Tuna Bread in a Toaster keeps perfectly in a lunchbox, just make sure it has cooled completely before packing.
- You can replace the raw tahini with cottage cheese.
- You can replace the grated vegetable with a frozen spinach cube / chopped cabbage / grated zucchini / store-bought chopped greens in a bag / ¼ cup rolled oats or quick oats, according to your preference.
