Some combinations were simply meant for each other,
and banana and chocolate are definitely one of them 💜
This banana chocolate swirl cake is one of the softest, juiciest and most indulgent cakes there is.
The bananas give it wonderful sweetness and a rich texture,
and the chocolate creates beautiful swirls inside that surprise you anew with every slice.
It’s a cake you make in just a few minutes and in one bowl,
with simple, good ingredients that are almost always at home.
Pour most of the banana batter into the pan,
mix the remaining batter with melted chocolate,
and create gorgeous chocolate swirls between the two batters.
In the oven, all the magic comes together,
and the cake emerges golden on the outside, soft on the inside and filled with melty chocolate bites.
Banana chocolate swirl cake is exactly the kind of cake that’s so lovely to serve alongside a good cup of coffee,
pack in the children’s lunchbox,
or warm a slice in the toaster oven and enjoy a warm, indulgent bite.
Just a few minutes of preparation,
an incredible aroma spreading throughout the house,
and one cake that all the people we love will be happy to meet 😍

Banana Chocolate Swirl Cake
Ingredients
Please note that all my recipes are measured using universal measuring cups (a 250 ml measuring cup) - I recommend using them for the most accurate, perfect result possible
Ingredients for one loaf pan or a 26 cm round cake pan
- 2 ripe bananas
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- A tiny pinch of salt
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup oat flour
- 10 g baking powder (one standard packet)
- 100 g dark or milk chocolate, according to your personal preference
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 175°C, preferably on convection mode.
Mash the bananas thoroughly with a fork. Add the eggs, olive oil, maple syrup and salt to the bowl, and mix.
(You can also blend the wet ingredients with the bananas in a smoothie blender.)
Add the almond flour, oat flour and baking powder to the liquid batter, and mix until smooth.
Melt the chocolate in short pulses in the microwave, then move on to assembling the cake.
Pour 2/3 of the batter into the baking pan. Mix the remaining batter with the melted chocolate, then pour the chocolate batter into the center of the pan.
Using a silicone spatula or spoon, create swirls between the cake’s chocolate and vanilla batters.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out dry.
Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly and serve with love to the people we love 🙂
A little more from me
- You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- It is so lovely to warm a slice of the cake in a toaster oven.
- You can replace the oat flour with additional almond flour.
- You can also make the cake with 1 1/2 cups almond flour and 1/2 cup rice flour (it turns out perfect).
- For those who like it sweeter, I recommend using 1/2 cup maple syrup.
