I have a legendary recipe for oven-baked “Kariot” Cereal
Healthy,
Balanced,
Filling,
and super indulgent.
This week, I wanted a quick and joyful bite,
so I decided to make a shortened, faster version of the recipe —
and prepare it in its wonderful toaster form.
It’s vegan,
and you can use any chocolate spread you like,
or mix in any other spread you feel like.
It’s delicious and crunchy,
and simply a winning recipe 🙂
You can eat it as a morning snack or even as bite-sized cookies alongside your coffee,
and you can pack it in a lunchbox and enjoy it throughout the day.
The best part is that you can also make it just like that, without any filling inside,
and get delicate, wonderful cocoa squares that go perfectly with a good cup of coffee.
Happy days to us all 🙂

Cereal Pillows” in the Toaster”
Ingredients
Please note: All of my recipes are measured in universal cups (a measuring cup with a volume of 250 ml) - I recommend choosing them so that you get the most accurate and perfect result.
Suitable for two wonderful and satisfying servings:
- 2 tablespoons almond butter (for alternatives, see “A Little Extra From Me”)
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup almond flour (for alternatives, see “A Little Extra From Me”)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons chocolate spread of your choice
Preparation
Preheat the toaster to high heat (note: this recipe is intended for a large toaster).
Place the almond butter, maple syrup, and salt in a bowl and mix well. Add the almond flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, and mix everything until a soft dough ball forms.
Roll out the dough between two sheets of baking paper to an even thickness. Spread the chocolate spread over half of it and fold it in half. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into squares. Note: I recommend cleaning the knife between cuts.
Place the cut dough into the toaster for a few minutes – baking time depends on your toaster’s heat level. After 2–3 minutes, check if they’re ready or need a bit more time.
Once they’re done, transfer them to a cutting board and let them cool completely. Once cooled, go over the cut lines again with a knife. And that’s it – enjoy them as they are or in a bowl with milk 🙂
A Little Extra From Me:
- You can store leftovers in an airtight jar on the counter for up to 4 days (though they’ll be gone long before that).
- You can replace the almond butter with any nut butter you choose. The flavor and texture of the dough will change accordingly.
- You can replace the almond flour with 3/4 cup oat flour.
- I don’t recommend replacing the maple syrup.
- You can make them without the chocolate spread and get wonderful, crispy chocolatey squares.
- You can also bake them in the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes.
