Healthy and amazing homemade “Kariot” cereal!
This week, my 6-year-old Michaeli came back from a friend’s house,
excitedly telling me about a cereal called “Kariot” filled with lots of chocolate.
I was so delighted by his excitement.
The next day, I decided to make a healthier and more nutritious version for him.
Let me tell you,
it’s a bite you can’t resist.
A small bowl is enough,
they’re super filling and comforting.
Try it and you’ll fall in love too!
Happy days to us all 🙂
Homemade “Kariot” Cereal
Ingredients
Suitable for a medium-sized box
● 1/2 cup almond butter
● 1/3 cup maple syrup
● A pinch of salt
● 1 cup oat flour
● 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
● 1 teaspoon baking powder
Filling:
● 1/3 cup chocolate spread that kids love (I use natural hazelnut and cocoa spread, but
any choice will work)
Preparation
Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 175°C, preferably on turbo mode but not mandatory.
Prepare the Dough. Place the almond butter, maple syrup, and salt in a bowl and mix. Add the oat flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder to the bowl and mix with a spatula to form dough chunks. Use your hands to bring the dough chunks together into a single cohesive dough ball.
Roll the chocolate dough ball between two sheets of baking paper into a
rectangle. Cut the rectangle in half so that it can fold over itself.
Roll the chocolate dough ball between two sheets of baking paper into a
rectangle. Cut the rectangle in half so that it can fold over itself. Spread the chocolate spread on one-half of the dough. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into squares. Clean the knife between cuts with a paper towel to achieve clean and neat cuts.
Transfer the dough, with the baking paper, onto a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool, and break into small squares. Store in an airtight jar on the counter.
A Little More From Me:
- These squares are best stored in an airtight jar on the counter.
- A small portion is quite satisfying and good.
- They are enjoyable to eat as is or in a bowl with milk.
